So, why propose a change?
Loot shouldn't feel like a slot machine. But with SR, it often does. Great players show up, contribute every week — and still get passed over. Others win big with minimal effort. This isn't bias. It's a system with no memory.
🧠 Raid Analysis: We're Bleeding Fairness
  • 33 raid nights tracked
  • Players with 10+ raids have gotten <5 items
  • Others with just 2–4 raids have gotten 2–3x more
💀 Loot Analysis: SR Has No Memory
  • Loot-to-raid ratios range from 0.3 to 2.5+
  • SR doesn't care if you looted last week, or 5 times last night
  • Zero enforcement on loot equity, attendance priority, or role need
🔄 This isn't a people problem.
It's a system problem… and I have tried to create a way to fix it…
Problems With Traditional Loot Systems
Current systems have created unfair experiences that frustrate raiders and raid leaders alike, for 20+ years…
Suicide Roll (SR)
Pure RNG with no memory. Players can go weeks without loot while others get multiple drops their first night. No recognition of attendance, contribution, or previous bad luck.
Dragon Kill Points (DKP)
Complex accounting that creates hoarding behavior. Veterans accumulate massive point pools that new players can't compete with. Requires extensive tracking and often leads to point inflation.
Loot Council
Susceptible to favoritism (real or perceived). Decisions lack transparency and can appear arbitrary. Creates drama when friends or officers seem to get priority without clear criteria.
EPGP/GDKP
Complicated formulas that players struggle to understand. Often rewards gold farming over raid performance. Can create pay-to-win dynamics that disadvantage new or casual players.
These systems either lack memory, transparency, fairness, or simplicity — sometimes all four.
Introducing "VALOR"
Because loot should reward more than luck.
The VALOR system brings honor, memory, and strategy to raid loot distribution. It's named for what it rewards —

- Value
- Attendance
- Loyalty
- Organization
- Roles

Each player assigns value to their desired loot — before it drops. The system awards gear based on player defined priority, not rolls, whispers, or luck.
Key Principles
Pre-Raid Bidding
Each player is given X points and secretly assigns value to gear they want most. Higher value wins.
Blind System
Your priorities remain private - only the loot master can see how you've distributed your points.
One-Time Lock-In
Once submitted, your choices are committed until the next content phase, preventing bid manipulation.
Strategic Prioritization
You control your own loot destiny by assigning higher values to items that matter most to your character.
Eliminating Loot Drama and Raid Loot Lag
Silent Strategy
Nobody sees your priorities but the loot admin.
Equal Footing
Everyone gets 1,000 points every Content Phase.
Fair Distribution
No loot sniping, no stress, no politics.
Faster Raid Progress
Pre-determined loot assignments eliminate mid-raid delays.
Raider Buy-in & Prioritization
Research
Study available loot, have an idea of what you need and the order in which you want it.
Allocate
Assign your 1,000 points across as many items as you need or want. More for the dire upgrades, less for the nice-to-haves.
Lock In
Submit before content phase or phase begins, in our case Phase 5. Once the new content drops, this is locked until newer content is released.
Receive
Get what you prioritized, based on how you prioritized it. You can see priority lists once all allocations are completed.
Integration with That's My BIS
Player Creates Wishlists
Use That's My BIS to assign point values to desired loot.
Prio Lists are Created
Loot admin builds priority lists based off player bidding. You can see priority lists, in order - but not their values.
Locked Submissions
Once content phase begins, no editing or last-minute swaps. The entire process is audit logged for accountability.
This system requires more effort from officers and raiders initially, with careful planning and point allocation before the phase begins. However, this front-loaded work significantly reduces ongoing administration, eliminates mid-raid delays, and prevents loot drama throughout the entire content phase.
Common Concerns Addressed
New Raiders
New raiders will receive a prorated amount of points based on when they join during the content phase, ensuring they can still participate in the system.
Non-dropping Items
There is always this risk, regardless of any system we choose. We could look at refunding unused bids…
Tie Breakers
You only use /roll, in the RARE event you and someone else bid the same amount of points.
Mistakes
Ask questions before submission. Once content phase starts, bids are final. We will have class and gear experts available to ask questions and seek help.
Let's Decide Together
VALOR represents a fair, strategic approach to loot distribution. Your voice matters in this decision.
We'll vote as a guild. Majority rules.
